I am currently a freelance woodwind player and instructor specializing in jazz, rock, R&B and improvised musics. My primary instruments include the saxophone family, flute and clarinet. I live and work in New Jersey within the greater NYC metropolitan area, and I currently teach privately out of The French School of Music in Plainfield, NJ. I also teach out of my studio in Bloomfield, NJ and will teach in your home, as well.

I have over 12 years of performance experience, including extensive work with jazz big bands, pop, rock and R&B bands as well as pit orchestra work. Notably, I have performed and recorded with Foley (bass player for Miles Davis & drummer for George Clinton). Also, I spent a year as director of the jazz big band, The Swing Machine.

I offer a variety of creative services, including: woodwind performance; private and classroom instruction; ensemble coaching; jazz & rock composition and arranging; composing and directing music for modern dance; as well as graphic arts design and web development. My newest artistic vision includes melding advanced improvisational techniques with technology, and I am currently looking to collaborate with like-minded, jazz-influenced electronic musicians.

I am particularly interested in developing the facility of perfect pitch. This has been a long-standing pursuit of mine, and I currently offer perfect pitch training for early childhood development as well as specialized ear training concepts for adults. My teaching experience spans all skill levels, from young students to retired adults. I specialize in helping students attain a vibrant, authentic sound and creating worthy musical experiences. I am currently refining a uniquely modern yet organic, ear-based pedagogical approach to teaching. I am consulting with The French School of Music to expand and modernize its curriculum, as well as I am beginning a foreign language and music integrated preschool playgroup with my wife [click here: multiculturalmindset.com]. I am soon to become a certified Music Together® teacher.

I recently moved to New Jersey from Columbus, OH and have completed my coursework for the Mason Gross School of the Arts (New Brunswick, NJ) master of jazz performance program. My teachers have included Ralph Bowen, Robert "Tigger" Benford, Stanley Cowell, Conrad Herwig, Joe Magnarelli, Richard E. Miller, Lewis Porter, David Riekenberg, Tim Ries and Charles Tolliver. My primary teachers in Columbus included Kris Keith, Bryan Olsheski and Vaughn Weister. I also studied jazz at DePauw University (Greencastle, IN) under Jim Connerley and Randy Salman.

I am an energetic and compassionate musician and teacher, an Eagle Scout, and I am vice-president of my family's small business. I very much look forward to collaborating or working with you to manifest a NEW musical imagination!
