PORTFOLIO
Compositions & Arrangements
The scores presented, below, are listed in order of completeness and viability. I unfortunately do not have any recordings with live musicians; the associated audio files were generated by the Sibelius software I used. The recordings are mostly lacking drum parts, because I intended for the drummer to just do his thing without explicit musical notation. Empty sections in the recordings generally reflect improvised solo sections; refer to the respective scores.
Haber’s Rule (lead sheet)
Haber’s Rule (sax trio)
For Fritz Haber (1868 - 1934). Haber’s life and work was a grand tragedy. His was a story of nurturing life while simultaneously exterminating it. He was a Jewish-born German chemist whose Nobel Prize-winning work in 1918 was for the synthesizing of ammonia. Ammonia is an important ingredient in fertilizers and currently plays a major role in world food production. His work also contributed to the development of chlorine gas used in WWI, and later his work led to the development of the Zyklon family of poisonous gases used by the Nazis. Members of Haber’s own family were killed in the concentration camps. Haber’s Rule is a scientific equation that describes the relationship between the concentration of a poisonous gas and how long the gas must be breathed in order to produce a toxic effect.

Graphic & Web Design
Included here are a few examples of my graphic design abilities (some company logos and brochures). This website’s layout and branding (color scheme and photos) are also my work. As I am self-taught in graphic and web design, I think these efforts demonstrate well what happens when I set to the task of learning a new skill.
Branding
I am very proud of the branding that my professional team and I created for my company, Language Rhythm LLC. I feel that we really captured the spirit of the company’s mission and values and laid a solid groundwork for expansion of the brand into other markets. Together, my team helped me translate my concept into a very professional and high-quality brand: contemporary, distinctive and useful. My philosophical approach to language and music acquisition is encapsulated in the branding, and I am very proud of the results.
